Danna Fowble, IOM, CCM

Executive Director, Oklahoma Psychological Association

Danna’s career path in organizational management certainly makes her a leader in the association management and not for profit arena having worked her entire adult career in this profession.  Today, as Owner of Solutions 501 Association Management and Consulting, she serves as the Executive Director of the Oklahoma Burglar and Fire Alarm Association, Oklahoma Psychological Association, Oklahoma Coalition for Affordable Housing, Helping Friends Foundation as well as Caliburn and Twin Lakes Homeowner’s Associations. She also just completed 18 months as Interim President of Visit Shawnee where she had oversight of a $550,000 budget with a perfect fiscal year audit.

From her thirteen-year career at the State Chamber of Oklahoma (April 2000-April 2013), she served as the chief executive officer of the Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce Executives (OCCE) and the Oklahoma Professional Economic Development Council (OEDC), both professional associations while working for the State Chamber, another business/professional association.  In addition to managing organizational affairs for both OCCE and OEDC, she worked to develop and promote a comprehensive program of legislative advocacy and awareness, membership and organizational development and special event and training offerings. She was also responsible for maintaining the State Chamber’s accreditation with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce as well as planned the State Chamber’s more than five annual events with a total budget of over $250,000.

Danna came to the State Chamber from the Norman Convention and Visitors Bureau, established in 1993, where she served as its first executive director and took the organization’s budget from $107,000 to over $380, 000 upon leaving in 2000.  She is a Tulsa native and previously held the position of Convention Sales Manager for the Tulsa Chamber’s Convention and Visitors Bureau, a division of the Tulsa Metro Chamber…. all of which are trade, business and professional organizations.

Fowble is past president of the Oklahoma Society of Association Executives (OSAE) and was the first and only convention and visitor’s bureau representative to have held that position and is the recipient of their 2007 Professional of the Year award.  Named in 2011 as One of the Top thirteen Chamber Professionals who shape people in the organizational management profession by the American Chamber of Commerce Executives, Fowble was nominated for the 2007 Journal Record’s Woman of the Year, was Gov. Frank Keating’s appointed representative to the first ever 1995 White House Conference on Tourism and currently serves on the board of the Oklahoma Travel Industry Association (OTIA) and is a preferred vendor to the University Of Oklahoma College of Continuing Education and consultant for the Center for Non Profits.

Danna has a bachelor’s degree in business with emphasis on meetings and destination management from Northeastern State University (NSU) in Tahlequah, Okla., and is a graduate of the US Chamber’s Institutes for Organization Management (IOM) program.  Danna earned the distinction of Certified Chamber Manager (CCM) shortly after she joined The State Chamber and is preparing to take the Certified Association Executive (CAE) exam.  She is also a nationally certified fitness professional through the American Council on Exercise and instructs more than six fitness classes per week.
